Mighty Oaks From Little Acorns Grow

I went to visit family in Illinois a few months ago and I took some nature pics.
It was fun finding the the juxtaposition of nature and man-made in harmony.

Austin's Gypsy Picnic

So the hubby and I went to the Gypsy Picnic at Auditorium Shores.  It was quite a treat!  We waited in the longest line for probably an hour to get our $3 sample from Kronic Krave Arepas.  It was darn tasty and we will definitely eat there again.  Here are some pics I took of our journey to the Gypsy picnic...

Where we parked we encountered a few 'wild' parrots.

Then there were the awesome buildings of downtown Austin.
I just love the Frost Tower, it's said it looks like an owl.

This Peace sign is painted on the side of Turf And Surf at the Gypsy Picnic.
It's so Austin.

And then there's me and the hubs.  :)

Thanks for reading!

NEW Etsy Shop

I finally have my second Etsy shop up and running.  Only three items for sale so far, but I am about to add more.  I'm starting with old souvenir state plates, mostly from the 1960's.  I will also be adding Southern Living cook books, if I can find the ones 20+ years old .  And I will also be selling vintage clam shell/mother-of-pearl buttons, which would be fabulous for all your crafting needs!

Stop by when you get a chance, and please check back often as I will be adding lots of lovely things. :)

In My Own Backyard

I've recently been inspired to start taking pics of the hidden beauty around me, that may otherwise go unnoticed. I spent a little time in my backyard snapping away.  Here's what I found:

I'm growing fresh herbs, Basil and Parsley.  And my aloe plant has gotten huge and sprouted babies!

My hubby recently repainted the outside of the house.  I shot these pics in the early morning and the hue of the sky, while gorgeous, doesn't really bring out the brilliant color.  Anyway, I thought my Sun and Star looked awesome against the background of my newly painted house. :)

I really liked the texture and lines of this shot.  My hubby attached his weather station to a 'W' I got from an old grocery store sign.

Last, we have my babies, Heidi and Ruby.  I shot Heidi in front of my husband;s favorite tree, his Bald Cypress.  And Ruby is on alert at the back fence.

Thank you for looking into my little world.

Pizzurro Photography

Had an amazing photo shoot yesterday with a couple of ridiculously awesome chicks.  My photographer, Irina, has incredible talent.

And my model, Amber, stunningly represented my pieces.  Thanks to both you ladies!

Here's a sampling of the photos Irina took.  Enjoy!

And The WINNER Is.....

The name I selected for my second Etsy shop is: Nomadic Nostalgia.  This is based on suggestions from Mary Arbuckle who is the lucky winner of $20 towards anything in my handmade jewelry shop on Etsy, My Shining Star Designs.

Mary provided the 'Nostalgia' and I added 'Nomadic' based on the many souvenir state plates I will be selling.

I am super excited to begin filling this new Etsy shop.  I will let you all know as soon as it's ready! :)

Thank you to everyone who participated.

I love Love LOVE creating Etsy treasuries featuring the incredible and unique artists of Etsy.  In one of my recent treasuries I added a cork necklace by http://www.etsy.com/shop/uncorked and in turn discovered her blog.  I read a three part series of extremely invaluable Etsy Success Tips on how to stand out.  I want to share it with my blog followers!  I know you will find it as enlightening as I have.
